任天堂は29日、3D（3次元）対応の携帯型ゲーム機「ニンテンドー3DS」を日本で2011年2月26日に発売すると発表。
価格は2万6000円。
専用の眼鏡をかけずに３Ｄ映像を楽しむことができるのが特徴で、2004年に発売した「ニンテンドーDS後継機となる。
3DSは、現行のDSと同様に2つのディスプレーを搭載、上部は3D映像、下部はタッチパネル操作に対応。3D映像の奥行きを手動で調節できるほか、背面に設置した２つのカメラを使って3D画像を撮影できる機能も搭載。

- スリープ中にすれ違った人の「Mii」と会話できる
- 内蔵カメラを使った「AR（拡張現実）ゲームズ」をプリインストール
- カメラを用いた「Mii」の作成に対応
- 歩いた歩数やゲームのプレイ時間が記録される「思い出記録帳」
- インカメラとアウトカメラを同時に使い、合成写真が作れる「合体カメラ」機能
- コンテンツのダウンロード販売に対応
- 2GBのSDメモリカードが同梱
- バーチャルコンソールに対応し、ゲームボーイソフトをプレイ可能
- 無線LANアクセスポイントを自動検出し、無料ソフトなどをダウンロードする「いつの間に通信」
- NTTBPの公衆無線LANサービス「Wifine（ワイファイン）」でニンテンドー3DSが利用可能に
- 日本テレビとフジテレビが3D映像を無料配信
